VP Education Brad Currin opened the meeting on behalf of our delayed President Kristie West and handed over to Toastmaster Richard McMurray and his Halloween-inspired theme for the evening – what frightened you the most as a child?
David Van-Panhuys was Timekeeper for the evening.
Keeping up the creepy theme Grammarian Euan Gillies set us the word of the day as ominous.
Table Topics Master Gary Monk carried on with questions about scares and scams:
Kate Proffitt argued for a UK campaign to declare Halloween a national holiday, Trang Le didn’t like Halloween at all, Tom Elliott imagined the most creative thing you could do with a pumpkin, Atol described what he would like his partner to wear for Halloween, George told us about the weirdest Halloween party he’d every been too, Gilly Cutts told a scary bonfire story, Camilla Graham thought about who she would like to play a trick on, and Bryant Yates discussed the view of the UK from a US perspective.
Monica Chong evaluated the Table Topics.
Sergeant at Arms Gilly Cutts welcomed our guests.
